CDC Issues New Masking Guidelines Regarding Public Transportation

Published Apr 19, 2022
Escambia County Area Transit will no longer require a mask to be worn by passengers per the CDC guidelines as of April 18, 2022.

The CDC issued the following guidance on masking for public transportation:
  • "As a result of a Florida court order, effective immediately and as of April 18, 2022, CDC’s January 29, 2021 Order requiring masks on public transportation conveyances and at transportation hubs is no longer in effect. Therefore, CDC will not enforce the Order. CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings at this time."
ECAT will continue to distribute masks in all busses and at Customer Service for those wanting to continue wearing a mask.

The CDC's new guidance on the mask mandate may be viewed here.
