The new 17th Avenue interchange is open in Pensacola. The new interchange will add direct access to Bayfront Parkway (left lane) from the flyover and continued access to East Gregory Street (right lane). Beneath the flyover, a new single-lane roundabout has replaced the traffic signal formerly at 17th Avenue to provide seamless travel between the bridge, 17th Avenue north and southbound, East Gregory Street, and Bayfront Parkway.

A computer-aided simulation depicting the various traffic movements for the new interchange is available online at www.pensacolabaybridge.com/overview/17th-avenue-interchange

With the opening of the new interchange, two lanes of both east and westbound traffic continue sharing the eventual eastbound (Pensacola to Gulf Breeze) bridge as work continues to complete the westbound (Gulf Breeze to Pensacola) structure.

In the final configuration, the new Pensacola Bay Bridge will consist of two parallel bridges, each equipped with three travel lanes, inside and outside shoulders, and adjacent multiuse paths for pedestrians and bicyclists. The $430 million project is currently estimated for completion in 2022.
