Join UF/IFAS Extension Escambia County for High Tunnel Pest Management Field Day on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, from 10 a.m. until noon. The event will take place at Aliff Farm, 3030 Purdue Rd., McDavid, FL 32568.
The program will discuss the research conducted on growing vegetables in high tunnels using exclusion fabric to help reduce major damaging insects and improve crop yields. The most current research data will be discussed, including the many benefits of using this type of growing system as well as some of the challenges. Program speakers include:
- Libbie Johnson - UF/IFAS Extension Agriculture Agent
- TJ and Wendy Aliff - Aliff Farm, Escambia County
- Dr. Ayanava Majumdar - Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Auburn University Entomology and Plant Pathology Department
This program will be beneficial for smaller scale vegetable farmers, both organic and traditional. Members of the public are welcome to attend as well as NRCS and FSA Field personnel and Extension Agents. There is no charge for the program, but please call the Escambia Extension office at (850) 475-5230 to register as attendance will be limited.
Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately as the workshop will be conducted outside. UF/IFAS Extension Escambia County will be following social distancing practices and masks are encouraged.
