The Pensacola & Perdido Bays Estuary Program, in partnership with the University of West Florida’s Haas Center, announces the launch of a community survey developed to determine resident and visitor perceptions, concerns, values and uses of the Pensacola and Perdido watersheds. A watershed is the land that water flows across or under on its way to a body of water.
“From ensuring our communities are storm ready, to knowing that our waters are swimmable and fishable for all, we need to hear your concerns, hopes and vision for our community,” said Matt Posner, interim executive director of PPBEP. “Don’t miss this opportunity to share your voice and shape our future, so together, we can get to work on improving our waters and our quality of life.”
PPBEP is developing a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan, which serves as a blueprint to restore and protect the natural resources and economic health of waterways. Participant feedback including the community’s values and uses of the waterways will help shape the plan and future actions aimed to create a healthy and sustainable environment, economy and community.
The survey is anonymous and available at uwf.edu/watershedsurvey until Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020. UWF’s Haas Center will then evaluate the data.
“Our research team is honored to support the team’s effort to assess and analyze resident and visitor perspectives on the Pensacola and Perdido Bays and estuaries,” said Nicole Gislason, executive director of the UWF Haas Center.
