The 2020 Census is coming to a close, with more than 89 million households responding to date. As of Tuesday, October 13, Escambia County’s self-response rate is 64.4%, and Florida’s self-response rate is 63.7%. The deadline for the 2020 Census is today, Oct. 15, 2020. Escambia County and the City of Pensacola are encouraging all residents to complete the 2020 Census to ensure everyone in the community is accurately counted.

The 2020 Census is your opportunity to shape your community’s future. Do your part. You can still complete the Census at my2020census.gov. The 2020 Census questionnaire will take about 10 minutes to complete.

  • Internet self-response will be available across the nation through October 15, 2020 to 5:59 a.m. (ET) on October 16, 2020.
  • Phone response will be available for its regularly scheduled time on October 15, 2020. Click here for schedule and a list of numbers.
  • Paper responses must be postmarked by October 15, 2020.
  • Nonresponse follow-up census takers will continue resolving nonresponding addresses through the end of the day on Oct. 15, 2020.

For the first time, you can choose to complete the census online, by phone or by mail. Find out more about each of these methods below:

The Census is the nation's once-in-a-decade headcount of every person in the United States. It will ask a few simple questions about you and everyone who is or will be living with you on April 1, 2020.

Your census data is incredibly important, especially after the impacts of Hurricane Sally. The Census produces timely local data that is critical to emergency planning, preparedness, and recovery efforts for all types of emergencies on the local, state and federal level.

The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities including the City of Pensacola and Escambia County every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community throughout the U.S., from highway planning and public transit to educational programs, hospitals, fire departments and housing assistance.
