Published Apr 13, 2020

The Perdido Key Drive High-Emphasis Pedestrian Crossing Upgrades Project is now complete.

The project began in February and consisted of the installation of pedestrian-activated, flashing in-roadway lights, a bi-directional pedestrian-activated flashing LED crossing sign, a "Pedestrian Crossing Ahead" sign and a "Pedestrian Crossing Ahead" pavement message at five existing crosswalk locations between the 13,700 and 17,100 blocks of Perdido Key Drive.

The five crosswalks are located at: Tom Thumb, Perdido Towers, Perdido Key Community Center, Beach Access No. 3 at River Road, Beach Access No. 2 and the Villagio Shopping Center.

The project also includes high-visibility ADA-complaint crosswalks and LED overhead street lighting.
