Escambia County COVID-19 Update #28

View an updated list of county closures and cancellations here. This update only includes new information we have received. Weekend updates will be distributed only when there is new information. 

Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller 
The Supreme Court of Florida issued Administrative Order No. AOSC20-17 on March 24, 2020 extending the suspension of jury trials, and other related matters, through April 17, 2020. 

The MC Blanchard and Theodore Bruno Juvenile Justice buildings remain open but have limited public access. The Clerk’s office will continue to process the following emergency court services:

• Petitions for Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Repeat Violence, Sexual Violence or Stalking Injunctions
• Baker Act petitions
• Marchman Act petitions
• Vulnerable Adult petitions
• Adult Protective Services petitions
• Emergency guardianship appointment
• Family Law and Dependency cases in which the imminent safety of children is at issue

• Century Courthouse office
• The Public Records Center, 120 E. Blount St.

The following services are suspended until further notice: Marriage licenses and Passports. For additional information regarding the courts, go to FirstJudicialCircuit.org. 

Escambia County 

• The drive-through COVID-19 testing site at Community Health Pediatrics located at 470 South Highway 29, Unit B, in Cantonment will be closed for the remainder of the dayTuesday, March 31 due to weather. For more information about additional testing sites, visit myescambia.com/covid19
• The public is strongly encouraged to participate electronically in Public Forum Thursday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting at 5:30 p.m. This meeting, along with the Community Redevelopment Agency meeting, will be streamed live and archived online and utilizing this virtual viewing technology is encouraged. The Board meeting will be in the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, 221 Palafox Place, BCC Meeting Room.  A public input form has been made available for input/comment on public forum, CRA and agenda items. Comment forms regarding a specific agenda item must be submitted prior to the vote on the referenced agenda item. Comments or questions submitted will be read into the record during the meeting.

Florida Department of Health in Escambia County

• As of 1 p.m., March 31, Escambia County has had 88 positive COVID-19 cases. This number is expected to change daily due to the return of results from ongoing testing. For the most up-to-date information regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida, visit the COVID-19 dashboard. The site is currently updated twice daily.
