Read with a Dog
Come read with a Pet Partners certified therapy dog! Tanner loves to snuggle while listening to kids read him stories. You can schedule a 15-minute time block or just stop by and say hi if he isn’t already engrossed in a book. Pet Partners: Read With Me™
School-aged children are invited to register for a 15-minute session to pick a book and practice reading with a furry friend. Dogs and handlers are coordinated through Pet Partners and Cherry Point Dog Training, Inc. Preregistration is requested.

Chess Club
We will help you learn how to play one of the oldest games in the world. Whether you are a brand new beginner or a master chess player, this is a chance to learn new skills, practice your moves and improve your game in a friendly environment. All playing levels are welcome, including beginners. The library will provide all the chess boards and pieces.
Open STEAM Lab
Come explore the technology that West Florida Public Libraries owns. Learn to code or use the Silhouette machines. Have a sewing project you would like to work on? We have the machines you need. Perhaps you would like to make a poster with the wide format printer. Drop into the STEAM Lab during our open hours and staff will assist you in getting started with your newest project.
Breakerspace Electronics Thursday
How does that thingamajig work? Let’s take it apart and see what makes it tick. Explore the magical and complicated world of electronics. Come build simple circuits and learn the basic principles of electronics with a hands-on lab environment. No experience needed. For all ages.
Quilt, Stitch and Sew Open Session
Come learn to quilt, stitch or sew. Want to learn to crochet? Want to brush up on your sewing skills? Want to spend time together with like-minded people working on your craft project? The library has sewing machines and other tools you can use to produce your creations.
Holiday Steam
School’s out! Come to the library and have fun with a variety of STEAM activities.
Bricks and Flicks – “Abominable" (2019)
Join us in watching the “Abominable” (2019). Come munch popcorn and enjoy the action adventure movie. In our second meeting room, we will have LEGO® bricks for you to build as you watch the movie.
Let’s Make Art! – Family STEAM Night
Let’s put the A in STEAM and make some art! Come learn to paint with acrylic paints. Come learn to paint like Claude Monet with Impressionism style painting. No painting experience is required. Beginners welcome. All ages welcome. The library will provide all supplies.

LEGO® WeDo 2.0 Robotics Club at Tryon Branch Library
Come explore LEGO® WeDo 2.0 robotics with the West Florida Public Libraries. We will build different robots using the LEGO® WeDo 2.0 kit, exploring different robot functions as well as learning how to code the robots we build. Beginners are welcome. The library will provide all supplies needed.
Maker Monday Meetup
Whether you are looking to learn, need help finishing a project, or just want to share your experience, all maker topics and projects are welcome – 3D printing, electronics, coding, woodworking, metalworking, welding, art, robotics or just tinkering around. What is your passion? By sharing your maker passion, you will help our efforts to grow our STEAM Lab and build a community of makers here in Pensacola.
Mini Yogi Bears
Introduce your child to yoga to kickstart a healthy lifestyle and mindful habits. Kids will move in a creative, fun flow inspired by animals from lions and tigers to bears. The class is open to children. Mats will be available for use.
Sewing and Quilting with STEAM for Grownups
Would you like to learn to sew? Come learn at the library. We provide you the tools to get started. If you are already an experienced seamstress or quilter, come us for the fun and friendship.
Yoga Hour
Yoga is a mental and physical practice that allows us to connect with ourselves and balance our health and well-being. During this class, students will be immersed into a beginner flow focusing on the basics of meditation and yoga. The class is open to all ages and mats will be available for use.
Family STEAM Night: Game Night
All kinds of games can be fun and challenging to play. Come play games and even learn how to design and make your own! We’ll try different sorts, including cooperative and competitive, tabletop and digital, simple and complex, and more.

Jazz it Up with Jewelry! – Family STEAM Night
Would you like to learn how to make jewelry? Come join us every third Thursday of the month for Jazz it up with Jewelry Family STEAM Night and learn basic beginners’ jewelry making. We will make bracelets, earrings, necklaces and more. Each session we will offer a new project to delight all ages and cover topics such as beading, wire wrapping, and plaiting / knotting leather cords. All materials are provided by the library.
Family STEAM Night: Learn to Code with Hopscotch
Come learn to code with Hopscotch, a fun coding app. You will learn to make fun custom games and animations. No coding experience needed. Beginners are welcome. The library will provide all supplies needed.
Saturday STEAM - Snap Circuits for Kids
Snap Circuits is an educational toy that teaches electronics with solderless snap-together electronic components. Each component has the schematic symbol and a label printed on its plastic case that is color coded for easy identification. They snap together with ordinary clothing snaps.

Join us as we learn the fundamentals of sewing.
Family STEAM Night: Glass Etching
Come learn to etch glass using a stencil you create using the silhouette machines. No experience needed. Beginners are welcome. The library will provide all supplies needed.

Crafts
Learn to Loom Knit
Join us as we learn simple loom knitting techniques to create a fun and warm winter hat. All tools and materials will be provided. Space is limited. Please contact Molino Branch Library at 850-435-1760 to register.
Little Woman Celebration
Celebrate the release of the new movie "Little Women" starring Emma Watson (Hermione from Harry Potter) and Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn). There will be crafts, games, a tea party, a puppet show and giveaways. We will also watch the trailer.
Dream Jars
Families and children will enjoy a gentle story time about a young child with bad dreams. We will then make "Dream Jars" to place beautiful wishes and dreams in. The "Dream Jars" can also be used for a night light. All materials will be provided. Recommended for ages 4 to 8 but all are welcome.
Loopy Loomers
Join us in making preemie hats for the Studer Family Children's Hospital NICU unit. All experience levels welcome. All materials provided.

Card Players Club
Do you enjoy playing card games or wish you could learn in a relaxed and enjoyable environment? Do you play with other groups, wish you could either meet new people or find something fun to do during the weekend with people who share your enthusiasm for card playing? Join us playing all sorts of card games, including Canasta, Hearts, Bridge, Spades, Pinochle, Whist, and Hand and Foot. For all skill levels from beginners to pros.
Uke’n’Play
Come make some happy sounds and learn how to play the ukulele! Beginner instruction is from 4-4:30 and will cover instrument handling, tuning, basic chords, etc. Then, jam with us from 4:30-5:30 as we share techniques and learn songs together. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of ours during the class.
Molino Melodies
Join us on Thursday evenings as we learn to play the mountain dulcimer. Bring your dulcimer and join or try one of ours. Beginners welcome.
Tryon Tuesday: Movie Night for the Family – "The Lion King" (2019)
We’re showing new release movies for the whole family once a month with popcorn. This month’s film is “The Lion King”, release date 2019, rated PG, with a running time of 118 minutes.

Chair Yoga
Want to try yoga? Ease into it with gentle chair yoga; Ideal for seniors and those who have difficulty arising from the floor as well as office workers who sit for hours in a chair. Local patron will guide you through the basics of chair yoga: gentle stretches seated in a chair and also standing postures. Sponsored by The Friends of Southwest Branch Library.

Come in and learn more about the programs and services offered by the CIL Disability Resource Center, Inc., offered to people with all types of disabilities in the area. CIL services include, but are not limited to, community services information and referral for people with disabilities, free telephone program for deaf/hard of hearing, assistive technology program referrals and assistance featuring ramps, home modifications, equipment and devices for disabled persons, community advocacy and peer counseling, social and recreational activities.
Celebrate Florida’s Arbor Day!
Celebrate Florida’s Arbor Day (usually held the third Friday in January, while National Arbor Day is held in April) with the Escambia County Master Gardeners as we learn about shade and hurricane-resistant trees and which ones will thrive in our area. We also will be giving away a limited number of FREE tree seedlings!
Council on Aging
Council on Aging of West Florida presents a thoughtful presentation on social services and opportunities available to elder adults in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. With a charge from the State of Florida to keep seniors at home, with independence and dignity for as long as possible, Council on Aging works to provide comfort and care in home, eliminating the need for long-term nursing home placement and expensive personal care. If you are aging and need help, or are a caregiver for an aging older adult, we want you to receive every service you’re entitled to.

A basic Google search can be a great starting point for online research. Use advanced search to find high quality genealogy sites, including government and university websites on genealogy. To find online texts, learn to search Google Books, "the world's most comprehensive index of full-text books."
