Read with a Dog
Come read with a Pet Partners certified therapy dog! Tanner loves to snuggle while listening to kids read him stories. You can schedule a 15-minute time block or just stop by and say hi if he isn’t already engrossed in a book. School-aged children are invited to register for a 15-minute session to pick a book and practice reading with a furry friend. Dogs and handlers are coordinated through Pet Partners and Cherry Point Dog Training, Inc. Preregistration is requested.

Sewing and Quilting with STEAM for Grownups
Would you like to learn to sew? Come learn at the library. We provide you the tools to get started. If you are already an experienced seamstress or quilter, come us for the fun and friendship.
3D Objects - STEAM for Kids
How does that thingamajig work? Let’s take it apart and see what makes it tick. Explore the magical and complicated world of electronics. Come build simple circuits and learn the basic principles of electronics with a hands-on lab environment. No experience needed. For all ages.

Chess Club
We will help you learn how to play one of the oldest games in the world. Whether you are a brand-new beginner or a master chess player, this is a chance to learn new skills, practice your moves and improve your game in a friendly environment. All playing levels are welcome, including beginners. The library will provide all the chess boards and pieces.
Coding Stories with Twine
What if the hero tries to outsmart the dragon instead of charging in? You can write a story that ends both ways! Come learn how to write interactive stories with multiple outcomes with Twine. Come explore LEGO® WeDo 2.0 robotics with the West Florida Public Libraries. We will build different robots using the LEGO® WeDo 2.0 kit, exploring different robot functions as well as learning how to code the robots we build. Beginners are welcome. The library will provide all supplies needed.

Jazz it Up with Jewelry! – Family STEAM Night
Would you like to learn how to make jewelry? Come join us for Jazz it up with Jewelry Family STEAM Night and learn basic beginners’ jewelry making. We will make bracelets, earrings, necklaces and more. Each session we will offer a new project to delight all ages and cover topics such as beading, wire wrapping, and plaiting / knotting leather cords. All materials are provided by the library.

Join us on Thursday evenings as we learn to play the mountain dulcimer. Bring your dulcimer and join, or try one of ours. Beginners welcome.
Uke’n’Play
Come make some happy sounds and learn how to play the ukulele! Beginner instruction is from 4-4:30 and will cover instrument handling, tuning, basic chords, etc. Then, jam with us from 4:30-5:30 as we share techniques and learn songs together. Bring your own ukulele, or borrow one of ours during the class.

Music Performance: Frank Brown International Foundation - Huck and Lily
Andi Zack-Johnson, also known as Lilly, is an accomplished songwriter and was a sought-after voiceover actress from Canada. Ken Johnson, also known as Huck, has penned multiple Billboard top 40 hits as well as songs on TV Shows. Skidd Mills is a multi-Grammy winning writer, producer and engineer from Nashville, Tennessee. Music Performance: Frank Brown International Foundation - Logan Blade, Tammy Vice and Tommy Mazzullo
Logan Blade, Tammy Vice and Tommy Mazzullo, musicians from Autism Pensacola, will be performing at the Southwest Branch Library. Logan was diagnosed with autism at 2 years old. Though he has little conversation skills, he has a stellar voice and an outstanding ear for music. Check out one of his performances here.

Hampstead Stage Company Presents Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist is a Charles Dickens' classic about the young orphan, Oliver, who overcomes great hardships in Victorian London. It is a coming of age tale about survival and friendship. Through this play, students will be encouraged to help those around them and have the hope of rising above what seem like insurmountable odds. Maker Faire
Come join the West Florida Public Libraries at the first Pensacola Maker Faire. The library will be bringing a selection of all its robots and cool tech toys such as our virtual reality machines. Attendees can also make crafts at the Faire with the library. Silhouette machines, sewing machines and button makers will be provided. Attendees can also participate in a maker session where they can make their own board games, create with perler beads, and do acrylic pour.
GED Classes
Earn your GED at the Molino Community Center. Classes are held each Monday and Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Molino Community Center. Medical Cannabis Demystified – A Family Program
Millions of people use cannabis, also called marijuana, for a wide range of medical reasons. However, because there is still social stigma attached to cannabis use, many people who care for children hide or lie about their medication. Join us at the Westside Branch Library to help adults discuss responsible medical cannabis use with the children in their lives. We will use the book title for discussion: "Stinky Steve Explains Medical Marijuana: An Educational Children's Book About Cannabis (Volume 1)" by Maggie Volpo. By helping facilitate honest conversations about cannabis, cannabis use and cannabis safety in a neutral safe place at Westside Branch Library, these open forum discussions hope to help keep families safe and responsible!

Youth Gang and Violence Prevention: The Public Library’s Role
In general, the public simply does not know what a 21st century library has to offer. In an effort to address one of the most complex social issues of our time, join us for our Youth Gang and Violence Prevention workshop. You have to bring that to the conversation–how your Westside Branch Library can help find solutions. Let’s talk! Join us! We will explore the life and times of “Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams III” and his authoring of nine children’s books. Stanley “Tookie” Williams III (1953-2005) was the founder and leader of the Crips, an infamous gang that began in Los Angeles in 1969, and spent much of his life in prison. Today, he is well known for the writing that he did while in jail, which included anti-gang activist literature and children’s books. He wrote nine books warning children and teenagers about the dangers of gang life. He was also nominated for the Nobel Peace prize five times and the Nobel Prize for Literature once.
