Escambia County encourages residents to join in observing Florida Department of Transportation Mobility Week Oct. 25 through Nov. 1, which celebrates and promotes transportation choices.
As part of this year's Mobility Week, Floridians are being challenged to make a new transportation choice as part of the Mix-It-Up Challenge. Individuals can join the challenge by pledging to try transit, biking, walking, carpooling or teleworking. The goal of the challenge is to make a positive impact on our transportation system by reducing the number of trips made driving alone.
Today, Wednesday, Oct. 30, Commission Chairman Lumon May participated in an Escambia County Area Transit ride-along in celebration of Mobility Week and the Mix-It-Up Challenge. City of Pensacola officials, representatives from the Emerald Coast Regional Planning Council, Florida-Alabama TPO and rideOn Commuter Services were also in attendance. The ride-along departed from the Rosa L. Parks Transit Complex,1515 W. Fairfield Drive, and arrived at Pensacola City Hall, 222 W. Main St.
