Escambia County Employees Team up for United Way Day of Caring

Published Oct 5, 2019

More than 30 Escambia County employees volunteered Friday, Oct. 4 in support of the United Way Day of Caring, an annual community service effort coordinated by United Way of Escambia County. This year's volunteers worked on a variety of projects at several locations throughout the county, including Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida, Pine Meadow Elementary School, N.B Cook Elementary School, Workman Middle School and Camp Fire USA.

Each year, the one-day event gives participants an opportunity to learn about the needs of the community while helping a nonprofit agency or school. United Way of Escambia County matches groups and individuals with agencies and local schools to spend the day volunteering on various projects.

The volunteer work this year involved indoor and outdoor projects, from painting and landscaping to installing irrigation and cleaning air conditioning systems. Participating county departments included Natural Resources Management, Information Technology, Engineering, West Florida Public Libraries, Facilities Management and Escambia County Area Transit.
