Highlighted Events:

Science Hour - Water Safety

  • Thursday, April 11, 6-7 p.m., Escambia County Central Office Complex, 3363 West Park Place, Pensacola  

As we begin the summer beach season, Water Safety Chief Dave Greenwood will be discussing how to stay safe when visiting our beaches.

Citizen Science Seagrass and Terrapin Monitoring Training

Volunteers will be trained to monitor seagrass and terrapins in the Perdido Key area. Seagrass monitoring runs May through September. Terrapin monitoring runs May through June.

  • Thursday, April 11, 10 a.m. to noon, West Florida Public Library, Southwest Branch, 12248 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola
Volunteers will be trained to monitor terrapins on Pensacola Beach and in Santa Rosa County. 
  • Monday, April 15, 9-10 a.m., Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center, 8740 Gulf Blvd., Navarre Beach Marine Park, Navarre Beach

Citizen Science Scallop Survey Training

  • Monday, April 29, 5-7 p.m., West Florida Public Library, Southwest Branch, 12248 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola 

Will be training teams of three or more to survey for scallops in Big Lagoon.

  • Wednesday, April 3, 10:30-11 a.m., 1400 E. Johnson Ave., Pensacola

Financial management involves creating a budget, choosing a bank, paying taxes, managing debt, investing and retirement planning.

Plant Clinic with the Master Gardeners

  • Saturday, April 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Home Depot, 5309 Davis Highway, Pensacola

Join Escambia County Master Gardeners at Home Depot for help with plant recommendations and choosing appropriate garden products for your landscape. Bring your plant questions for help this spring.

Attracting Pollinators to the Garden

  • Tuesday, April 23, 10 a.m., Pensacola Visitor Information Center, 1401 E. Gregory St., Pensacola

Join UF/IFAS Escambia Extension to learn about the native pollinators in your garden and practices to enhance and encourage habitat for the pollinators.

"Growing with Extension" Open House and Plant Sale

  • Saturday, April 27, 8:30-11 a.m., Escambia County Extension, 3740 Stefani Road, Cantonment

The event will feature gardening demonstrations, an introduction to various 4-H youth programs, a healthy eating seminar, cooking demonstrations, discussions about coastal sustainability practices and livestock management, and a vegetable plant sale. Attendees will also learn about training sessions, volunteer activities and the role of Extension in the community.
