WFPL “The Great American Read” Book Talks

  • Monday, Aug. 6, 6 p.m. – Pensacola Library

Join us as we discuss the latest developments in WSRE’s hit series The Great American Read. We will be also be discussing “A Confederacy of Dunces” by John Kennedy Toole.

Graphic Novel Group

  • Monday, Aug. 13, 5:30 p.m. - Pensacola Library

Join Pop Comics owner Harley Orr and Pensacola Library staff in a discussion of a graphic novel decided on during the July meeting. The group meets monthly to discuss graphic novels.

WFPL Author Spotlight: Jamie Dickerman

  • Saturday, Aug. 11, 10:30 a.m. – Pensacola Library

In addition to having published poetry, short stories and novels, Jamie Dickerman has worked as a grant writer and a marketing professional. Her days and her writing alike are fueled by strong coffee, humor, people watching, and just enough daydreaming to craft imaginative novels. A native of New Mexico, she recently relocated to the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida with her fiancé and their beloved pack of pups.

Popular Literary Book Club

Molino Book Club

Join your friends at the Molino Book Group for a thought-provoking discussion of the Man Booker award winner for 2017, “Lincoln in the Bardo” by George Saunders.

Book events for youth

Pet Partners: Read With Me™

  • Saturday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. – Tryon Branch Library
  • Saturday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m. – Southwest Branch Library

School-aged children are invited to register for a 15-minute session to pick a book and practice reading with a furry friend. Dogs and handlers are coordinated through Pet Partners and Cherry Point Dog Training, Inc. Preregistration is requested.

Summer Reading Club

Summer Reading Club for Adults and Youth

  • Tuesday, May 29 – Saturday, Aug. 4 – All library branches

WFPL has a summer reading program for adults and youth. The program began Tuesday, May 29 and will run until Saturday, Aug. 4. Register at any WFPL location. Remember, audiobooks are not cheating.

Would you like to explore some of the robots and other technology tools that West Florida Public Libraries owns? Would you like to become trained to use the machines in the Technology Lab? Drop into the STEAM Lab during our open hours and staff will assist you in getting started with robotics, virtual reality or the Silhouette machines.

LEGO® Night – Pensacola Library

Westside Loopy Loomers – Westside Branch Library

Learn to loom knit hats, scarves, lap blankets and other items as we give back to the community. Yarn and looms are provided. All ages are welcome.

Earn your GED at the Molino Community Center. Classes are held Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. in the Molino Community Center. One-on-One Assistance and Instruction

Come to the Genealogy Branch Library for one-on-one sessions on searching for the deceased, introduction to Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest 101. Walk-ins are welcome or you can schedule a private session.

West Florida Genealogical Society Monthly Program

Join us for our monthly program and meet the members of the West Florida Genealogical Society. You don’t have to be a member to attend. Enjoy coffee and refreshments.
