Public Forum to be Named After Sansing

At the Thursday, June 14 Escambia County Committee of the Whole, the commission will present a resolution to name the board’s public forum “Gary Sansing Public Forum.” Sansing was a fixture at public forum and commission meetings for at least 20 years, commenting on local and national issues. He passed away in April. 

Public forum is held at 4:30 p.m. before each regular commission meeting, and is a time where citizens are invited to speak to the commission on the topic of their choice for three minutes. Sansing will be warmly remembered by county officials and staff for his passion for the community, the environment, and organizations like Movement for Change Inc. and the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida.

Sansing’s family is hosting a memorial at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at  Plaza Ferdinand located in downtown Pensacola. Anyone is welcome to come and celebrate the life of Gary Sansing. More than one commissioner may attend.
