Elder Health Nutrition

  • Tuesday, May 1, 10:30 - 11 a.m. at the Fricker Center, 900 N. F St., Pensacola
  • Monday, May 14, 10:30 - 11 a.m. at Westminster Apartments, 1700 N. L St., Pensacola
  • Tuesday, May 15, 10:30 - 11 a.m. at the Cobb Center, 601 E. Mallory St., Pensacola
  • Thursday, May 24, 10:30 - 11 a.m. at Bayview Senior Center, 2000 E. Lloyd St., Pensacola
  • Wednesday May 30 , 9 - 11 a.m. at Johnson Lakes Apartments,1400 E. Johnson Ave., Pensacola

Elder health and nutrition education is available for participants at Council on Aging of West Florida senior dining sites. 

Science Hour:  Backyard Wildlife/Butterflies

  • Thursday, May 10, 6 - 7 p.m. at 3363 West Park Place, Pensacola  

Lionfish Removal and Awareness Day

  • Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Big Lagoon State Park, 12301 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola

May 19-20 will be the annual Lionfish Removal and Awareness Day weekend. This education and removal event includes education booths, dissection and prep demonstrations, tastings from local chefs, a kids area, and a removal tournament to help manage this invasive species.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs. You can volunteer Saturday, Sunday, or both. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. If interested, contact Sea Grant Extension Agent Rick O'Connor at [email protected].

Northwest Florida Cattlemen’s Association meeting

  • Thursday, May 17, 6:30 pm, Jay Community Center, 5259 Booker Lane, Jay

Program includes two speaker sessions: Marketing Calves with Clarke County Extension Director Kevan Tucker; and Weaning Workday Fundamentals: Diseases, Comparing methods of Worming, Fly prevention, with Dr. Hank Lee.
