Join us for discussion of "The Sellout" by Paul Beatty. The novel showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the most sacred tenets of the U.S. Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, the father-son relationship, and the holy grail of racial equality - the black Chinese restaurant.

School-aged children are invited to register for a 15-minute session to pick a book and practice reading with a furry friend. Dogs and handlers are coordinated through Pet Partners and Cherry Point Dog Training, Inc. Preregistration is requested.

Black Out Poetry Competition for National Poetry Month
Stop by the Youth Services Department between Monday, April 2 through Saturday, April 28 and create your own black out poem. On Saturday, April 28, 2 p.m., join us to vote for your favorites. Winners will be entered for a prize drawing.

Would you like to explore some of the robots and other technology tools that West Florida Public Libraries owns? Would you like to become trained to use the machines in the Technology Lab? Drop into the STEAM Lab during our open hours, and staff will assist you in getting started with robotics, virtual reality or the Silhouette machines.

Come build using Lego® bricks and Cubelets®. What are Cubelets®? They are robot blocks that join together magnetically to work as a team. Each Cubelet® is about an inch-and-a-half across and connects face-to-face with other Cubelets®. Combine them in different ways and with Lego® bricks, they make your creation move! Duplo® bricks will be available for the little ones.
Green Screen Class – Pensacola Library
Come learn how to digitally swap out backgrounds in video and images, just like meteorologists do on TV. We’ll be using green screen technology to put still and video images together in new and different ways.
Crochet with Plarn Class
Plarn is yarn made from plastic bags. Come learn how to make this yarn and how to crochet using plarn. The library will provide all the needed materials.
Family STEAM Night – Cubelets® – Pensacola Library
What's a Cubelet®? Cubelets® are robot blocks that combine to work together in a team. Each Cubelet® is about an inch-and-a-half across, and magnetically connects face-to-face with other Cubelets®. Combine them in different ways, and they'll do different things. Combine them with Lego®, and they’ll do lots of different things. For ages 4 and up. Looking for a challenge? Set your Cubelet® robot against a competitor in a contest of battlebots, and see which emerges as the evening’s champion.

We've got the tools, you've got the talent, so come learn how to make a stop-action video with us. We'll have recording equipment and toys, but if you want to bring your own poseable action figure, go for it.
Women’s Coding Workshop – Pensacola Library
Would you like to learn to code, but have no experience in coding? Come learn the basics in these introductory sessions and open the door to the world of code.
Family STEAM Night – Tiny Whoops, Cubelets® and Lego®, Oh My
Big surprises fly in small packages. Join us for an introduction to using Tiny Whoop quadcopters, small first-person-view aircraft that truly allow you to feel the gift of flight and the feeling of being tiny. Quilt, Stitch and Sew Open Session – Pensacola Library
Come learn to quilt, stitch or sew. Want to learn to crochet? Want to brush up on your sewing skills? The library has sewing machines and other tools you can use to produce your creations.
Sparki Robotics Club – Pensacola Library
Come learn Sparkiduino, a simplified version of C/C++, to program Sparki, an adorable Arduino robot. Sparki can be programmed to follow lines, solve mazes, avoid walls and edges and draw shapes. This ongoing workshop is intended for ages 9 and up.
Lego® at the Library – Pensacola Library
On April 14, add a speed boost to your car with balloon power as we design new ways to make your Lego® car go. On April 28, you be the hero. Save your Lego® mini figures from certain doom by making a parachute to land safely on the targets. The library provides the Lego® bricks, you just need to bring your imagination. Duplo® bricks will be available for the little ones.

We’re planning a major operation with you and STEAM. Can you save your patient? Come find out as we build a battery-powered, circuit-driven board game for each family to take home. The library will provide all the needed materials to help you become a “super surgeon.”
Elephant & Piggie Day at the Library
Children and their parents are invited to attend an afternoon of fun featuring “Elephant & Piggie” from the beloved Mo Williams books. There will be crafts, games, activities, prizes and a photo op, featuring the happy duo. All materials will be provided.

GED Classes – Molino Branch Library
Earn your GED at the Molino Community Center. Classes are held Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. in the Molino Community Center. AARP Tax-Aide
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation help to anyone. Services are aimed at those who are 50 and older and/or can’t afford a tax preparation service. There’s no fee and no sales pitch for other services. AARP membership is not required. Representatives will be at Pensacola Library to provide this service on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through April 17. The last person is accepted at 1 p.m. The program is jointly sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Citizens should bring a photo I.D., Social Security cards or other official documentation for everyone on the return, a copy of last year’s tax return, tax forms and information for this tax year and a schedule of deductions if they have numerous receipts.
Hunter Safety Class
Get ready for the fall hunting season. Hunters need this class to get their hunting license. This class requires completion of the Florida's free online hunter safety course BEFORE attending class.
