FDOT Nighttime Traffic Pattern Changes on U.S. 29 and Nine Mile Road

Published Mar 5, 2018

Chipley, FL – Drivers traveling U.S. 29 and Nine Mile Road in Escambia County will experience changes in traffic patterns from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, March 5 through Saturday, Mar. 10 as crews begin construction of the center portion of the new bridge deck. Traffic control officers will be on site to help direct traffic.

  • Nine Mile Road at the U.S. 29 Overpass: Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. There will be alternating traffic shifts, directing traffic onto the westbound OR eastbound lanes, throughout the night as crews begin construction of the new center bridge deck.
  • U.S. 29 at Nine Mile Road Overpass: Monday and Tuesday, March 5 & 6, north and southbound U.S. 29 will be reduced to one lane and detoured onto the Nine Mile Road off- and on-ramps between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. as crews place beams for the center portion of the new bridge deck.
  • U.S. 29 between I-10 and 9 1/2 Mile Road: Drivers may experience alternating lane closures as crews continue drainage and paving operations.

Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers use caution, especially at night, when traveling through the work zone, and watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
