Published Jan 22, 2018
Due to a scheduling conflict, the location of the Escambia County Animal Shelter's “Dogs Playing for Life” volunteer seminar from 1-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 has been moved from the Escambia County Central Office Complex to the Genealogy Library, located at 5740 N. Ninth Ave. in Pensacola.

The second seminar at 6 p.m. will still be held at the Escambia County Central Office Complex, room 104, located at 3363 West Park Place in Pensacola.

All volunteers and professionals over the age of 18 interested in animal welfare or future shelter volunteer opportunities are encouraged to attend either of the seminars.

Both seminars will offer specific guidelines and tips for introducing dogs into playgroups, ways to effectively manage healthy canine play with a diverse group of dogs with different personalities, play styles and backgrounds, signs to watch for that may indicate problem interactions and ways to use playgroups to better facilitate adoption matching. Once volunteers complete either seminar, they will be able to engage in hands-on dog playgroup experiences at the shelter with class instructors.

"Dogs Playing for Life" is an acclaimed enrichment program for shelter dogs featuring canine playgroups.
