January 17 Office & School Storm Closures

The following is a list of storm closures for Wednesday, Jan. 17. It is by no means a comprehensive list, but is one tool for residents. Most offices plan on opening for regular hours on Thursday, Jan. 18. 

  • Escambia County Board of County Commissioners (all departments)
  • Escambia County Employee Clinic
  • Escambia County Property Appraiser
  • Escambia County Tax Collector
  • Escambia County Area Transit administrative offices
  • ECAT, ECCT bus and trolley services
  • Escambia County Supervisor of Elections office
  • Escambia County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller's office
  • Escambia County Animal Shelter
  • West Florida Public Libraries (all locations)


Escambia & Santa Rosa County Schools

ECUA -  
ECUA offices will delay opening on Wednesday until 11:00 a.m.  The Customer Service center will be open to walk-in customers and for telephone inquiries from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Due to the expected hazardous road conditions and the closure of the landfill, ECUA has cancelled solid waste collections scheduled for Wednesday and will instead make these collections on Thursday.  Collections scheduled for Thursday and Friday will also be delayed by one day, to Friday and Saturday, respectively.  

First Judicial Circuit - State Courts in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton Counties.  

  • All persons with a pending civil domestic violence/stalking/dating/repeat violence injunction hearing scheduled for Wednesday should report to Courtroom 101 of the M.C. Blanchard Building on THURSDAY, Jan.18 at 12:30 p.m. 
  • Those with rescheduled dates for injunction hearings may call 595-4492 with any questions.No changes are planned for the Escambia shelter/detention/first appearance schedule.
  • Shelter hearings will be held as usual at the Juvenile Justice Center, 1800 St. Mary Avenue, at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.  Detention hearings will follow at 1 p.m. at the Juvenile Justice Center. 
  • Adult first appearance hearings will be held by video at 1:30 p.m. at the Juvenile Justice Center.
  • TEAM Court hearings scheduled for Wednesday are being rescheduled for Wednesday, January 31 at 2:30 p.m.County Court arraignments scheduled for Wednesday are being rescheduled for Wednesday, February 7, at 8:30 a.m.
  • County Court plea day hearings with Judge Smith will be reset to Monday, January 22 at 8:30 a.m. Early plea hearings before Judge Duncan in Division F will be reset for Friday, January 19 at 8:30 a.m.  Sentencing before Judge Duncan will be reset to Friday, January 26 at 9 a.m.

Pensacola State College
- All Pensacola State College campuses and centers will close at 5:30 p.m.Tuesday. Men’s and women’s basketball games have been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday. 

University of West Florida  - Due to projected freezing weather conditions this evening and tomorrow morning, all UWF locations will close Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 9 p.m. This includes all classes, events, campus activities and online courses. Florida Virtual Campus locations remain open at this time. Normal University operations, including classes, events, campus activities and online courses, will resume on Thursday, Jan. 18. The Nautilus Market will be open tomorrow, Jan. 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. UWF faculty and staff: All essential personnel are expected to report to work. If you are unsure if you are essential personnel, please contact your supervisor.
