LEON COUNTY, FL – Today, the Florida Association of Counties announced the county photos selected to be featured in their 2018 FAC Calendar: Bodies of Water. "Sunset on Quietwater Beach" by David Christoper Atwell will be featured as October 2018. This year’s theme was chosen by FAC members in the month of July and a photo submission contest was held until mid-September. The calendar is provided complimentary to Florida’s commissioners and senior county staff and is a small thank you to FAC members and corporate partners.
“Florida provides a diverse, natural environment unique to only itself, with 1,200 miles of coastline and countless streams, lakes, and marshes. This year’s theme recognizes that our state’s natural beauty is the reason we have chosen to make Florida our home and the reason so many choose to visit Florida every year,” said Florida Association of Counties President and Charlotte County Christopher G. Constance.“The calendar is a way to showcase the pride Floridians have for where they live and highlight the beauty every county offers.”
The theme for the 2018 FAC Calendar was chosen over the summer. Amongst other theme ideas, the vote was overwhelmingly for Bodies of Water. Once the theme was selected, all of Florida’s 67 counties were asked to submit their best photos of the bodies of water in their county, with more than 600 photos being submitted. From the submissions, only 15 were selected for the 2018 FAC Calendar.
The 15 photos chosen to represent 15 different counties and the great variety of bodies of water we see in Florida include:
