October is Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month, and there is no better way to celebrate than to bring a new furry family member home! Dogs can be an amazing addition to just about every household, and at the Escambia County Animal Shelter, we have many dogs from which to choose. Click here to view our adoptable dogs or visit us at 200 W. Fairfield Drive in Pensacola. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In celebration, all adoption fees for dogs at our shelter in the month of October have been reduced. Dogs under 3 years old may be adopted for $55, and for dogs over 3 years old, the adoption fee is $35. Adoption fees include altering of the animal (spay or neutering services), microchip and the first year's shots, including rabies vaccinations. Escambia County residents will be required to purchase a license at the time of adoption. This is an additional $11 over the adoption fees and is paid separately.
Adopting from a local shelter has many benefits. In addition to saving a life and helping to break the cycle of pet overpopulation, you get a great pet while making room for others in our often overcrowded shelter. In September alone, 610 animals passed through the doors of the Escambia County Shelter.
