Escambia County received notice from FDOT late Wednesday, Sept. 20. As the notice was just received, no opening date has yet been projected.
The detour is Pine Forest Road to State Road 97.
A temporary bridge is currently under construction as the closed bridge is in the process of being replaced. FDOT is replacing the existing bridge, built in 1969, with a new, modern structure with 11-foot travel lanes, 6-foot shoulders and solid concrete barrier railing.
