New Casino Beach Traffic Signal Operational

Published May 18, 2017
The new traffic signal installed along Via De Luna Drive at the new entrance to the Casino Beach parking lot will be operational Thursday, May 18. The signal will help control traffic movements at the new westbound left turn lane into the lot next to Sidelines Sports Bar & Restaurant and across the street from Flounder's Chowder House.

The new signal will remain flashing yellow at all times, acting as a yield sign for drivers as they cross traffic to make the left turn into the Casino Beach parking lot. The signal will also include a pedestrian push button, which will be coordinated with the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Via De Luna Drive and Fort Pickens Road.

Construction of the remainder of the modifications to the Casino Beach parking lot is expected to be completed by the end of the week. The modifications, which were implemented Saturday, May 13, changed the access into and exiting the Casino Beach parking lot along Via De Luna Drive and Fort Pickens Road. The only entrance into the parking lot is now at the existing access along Via De Luna Drive, located next to Sidelines Sports Bar & Restaurant and across the street from Flounder’s Chowder House. The only exit from the parking lot is now from the existing access along Fort Pickens Road near the public restrooms/Public Safety Building. The parking lot will function in a circular configuration in order to improve traffic movements within the lot.
