University of Florida IFAS Extension in Escambia County is partnering with UF/IFAS Extension in Leon County, SunFarm Energy, Compass Solar Energy, and Gulf Power to sponsor a three-hour primer on solar photovoltaic, or PV, energy. The $10 program will start at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 24 at the Escambia County Extension office located at 3740 Stefani Road in Cantonment.
Local experts with Gulf Power, Compass Solar Energy and SunFarm Energy will provide instruction and demonstrations on site, along with remote instructors from the city of Tallahassee and the Leon County Office of Sustainability.
Participants will become familiar with all aspects of solar PV, from the financial to the technical. The seminar will include expert insight into trends in the solar industry and local utilities, options for components and installation, and how to calculate energy production and return on investment -- everything pertinent to helping you decide: "Is solar PV for me?"
After the educational sessions, hands-on demonstrations and information will be available from representatives with Compass Solar Energy and SunFarm Energy.
