Free Dental Care Offered at Florida Mission of Mercy

Published Mar 1, 2017
The Florida Dental Association Foundation is hosting the Florida Mission of Mercy Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 in Pensacola, a two-day clinic that provides dental care at no cost to the underserved and uninsured in Florida. The event will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Woodham Middle School, located at 150 E. Burgess Road.

This is a first-come, first-served event, and patients are encouraged to arrive early. No appointments will be taken. The goal of the event is to treat 2,000 patients and have a positive impact on the Pensacola community by providing important access to dental care for those who would otherwise go without. Treatments offered at the FLA-MOM include cleanings, fillings, extractions, limited root canal therapy and pediatric dentistry.

Up to 300 veterans with ID will be pre-screened Thursday, March 23 beginning at 2 p.m. Those approved must commit to returning at 5 a.m. Friday for treatment and will receive preferential treatment.

The Florida Mission of Mercy is also seeking volunteers in the field of dentistry and from the general public to help with the event. Volunteer applications are being accepted in the following categories:

  • Dentists, hygienists, dental assistants
  • Lab technicians
  • Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, EMTs
  • General public: registering patients and volunteers, escorting patients, interpreting, parking, food service and more
Morning, afternoon and all-day shifts are available. Registrations must be submitted by Wednesday, March 22. To register to be a volunteer, click here. For more information about the Florida Mission of Mercy, click here.
