Residents at a local nursing home will be getting Christmas presents thanks to the Westside Branch Library Loopy Loomers group. The group, made up of seven area women, decided to create gifts for the residents at Emerald Gardens Assisted Living Facility after hearing that many of the residents do not normally receive any presents for the holidays.
The Loopy Loomers, led by library clerk Amy Flores and library manager Linda Templeton-Rice, created more than 50 hats, scarves and other loomed gifts to ensure the residents all received a Christmas present. The gifts will be wrapped at Emerald Gardens before being presented to the residents. The yarn used was donated by various groups and citizens.
The Loopy Loomers have also created hats for premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital and Twiddlemuffs for the Council on Aging of West Florida, Emerald Gardens Assisted Living Facility and the Center for Pediatric Rehabilitation.
