Great things are happening on the west side of Pensacola with two events Saturday, Dec. 3 – the Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at Lexington Terrace Park and the return of the Warrington Market Place at Pensacola State College Warrington Campus.
Join Chairman and District 2 Commissioner Doug Underhill, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan, State Representative Frank White, former State Representative Mike Hill and Boy Scout Troop 10 in honoring the American flag at noon at Lexington Terrace Park located at 900 S. Old Corry Field Rd., as they retire flags collected throughout the community that are beyond repair. According to the U.S. Flag Code, “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” Therefore, when a flag is torn and tattered beyond repair, it is time for it to be retired. The public is encouraged to bring their distressed flags to be honored as well.
Shop the Warrington Market Place at Pensacola State College Warrington Campus located at 5555 West Highway 98 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for antiques, crafts and other home-based goods. The event also features local artist, collectibles, food trucks and more! Proceeds support the PSC chapter of SkillsUSA, a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
