Myrtle Grove Group Hosts Community Meeting on Possible Housing Development

Published Oct 11, 2016

The Myrtle Grove Revitalization Group is hosting a community discussion on the potential development of the former YMCA property located at 5406 Lillian Highway into a 110-unit, multistory affordable housing complex called Meadowbrook Commons. The meeting will take place Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church, 1030 N. 57th Ave. At the meeting, residents will hear from representatives from Galveztown, LLC and Banyan Development Group, LLC and have an opportunity to ask questions. After the public forum section of the meeting, a vote will be held to determine the stance of the Myrtle Grove community on the affordable housing unit’s development.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at a 9 a.m. Escambia County Board of County Commissioners special meeting, the commission will discuss committing $37,500 for this project and four other projects each including Abbington Oaks, Delphin Downs, Patricia Ponte and The Place @ P Street, if the projects are approved by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation for the State Apartment Incentive Loan, Tax Exempt Bond and Housing Credit Program. The vote taken by the Myrtle Grove community will be conveyed to the commission for this discussion.

The Myrtle Grove Revitalization Group is a community group focused on helping to bring change and revitalization to the Myrtle Grove area. For more information contact Ronnie Rivera at [email protected]
