The Myrtle Grove Volunteer Fire Station, located at 7209 Lillian Highway, will be temporarily closing as of about 3 p.m. today due to a water leak in the roof and potential associated mold issues. Staff will be relocated to the Osceola Fire Station at 2601 Massachusetts Ave. until the Myrtle Grove station can be tested for mold and, if needed, remediation can be completed.

The Myrtle Grove Volunteer Fire Department is part of Escambia County Fire Rescue, which operates as a combination fire service with both volunteer and career firefighting personnel. Volunteer firefighters operate out of 11 districts, while career firefighters operate out of 11 districts throughout Escambia County.
