Marcus Pointe Boulevard Railroad Crossing Closure

Published Jun 1, 2016

The Alabama Gulf Coast Railroad crossing on Marcus Pointe Boulevard just west of W Street will close beginning Monday, June 6 for five consecutive days. The closure is the result of work including replacement of the crossing infrastructure and repaving of the asphalt approaches. Variable message boards are in place near the crossing to provide advance notification to the traveling public of the upcoming closure and detour.

The following detours will be utilized:

  • Traffic attempting to exit Marcus Pointe will be directed south along Rambler Drive, west on Commerce Park Circle, south on Pipeline Road to the intersection of Rainbow Avenue, at which point they would have the option to take Empire Drive, Pipeline Road, Sun Valley Drive or Glass Drive.  All of the detour options will lead the driver to Michigan Avenue/Beverly Parkway. However, the detour will only be signed along Sun Valley Drive.

  • The detour for traffic attempting to enter Marcus Pointe will be directed south along W Street to the intersection of Michigan Avenue/Beverly Parkway, west along Michigan Avenue/Beverly Parkway to Sun Valley Drive, north along Sun Valley Drive to Rainbow Avenue, east along Rainbow Avenue to Pipeline Road, north on Pipeline Road to Commerce Park Circle, east along Commerce Park Circle to Rambler Drive, north on Rambler Drive to Marcus Point Boulevard.

Any questions or concerns regarding the closure or detour should be addressed to Aaron Smith at (850) 554-2908.
