Two upcoming sign-up sessions will provide help to anyone wanting to use the Florida Turnpike Enterprise’s SunPass® prepaid electronic tolling system on the Bob Sikes Bridge on Pensacola Beach. SunPass registration and Pensacola Beach Annual Pass assistance will be offered on the following dates:
- Wednesday, June 1 from 4-7 p.m.
- Thursday, June 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Come anytime during the session and a SunPass representative or Santa Rosa Island Authority staff member will walk you through the process of purchasing and activating a SunPass transponder and, if you choose, a Pensacola Beach Annual Pass. The SunPass sign-up sessions will take place at the Santa Rosa Island Authority office, located at 1 Via De Luna Drive on Pensacola Beach. A SunPass transponder must be purchased and activated with a minimum $10 balance in order to utilize the SunPass system. Transponders can be purchased and activated at the sign-up sessions.
Remember to bring the following with you to the sign-up session:
- Driver’s license
- License plate number of the vehicle(s) you want to be associated with the SunPass account
- Method of payment (cash or credit card)
- At least $10 for the initial SunPass account balance.
- $4.99 for a SunPass mini sticker transponder or $19.99 for a SunPass portable transponder.
- Optional: Additional payment for those wishing to purchase a Pensacola Beach Annual Pass (see below).
Pensacola Beach Annual Pass assistance will also be offered at the sessions. These passes provide unlimited passage through the Bob Sikes Bridge toll plaza for the following annual rates:
- Pensacola Beach Annual Passes are $50 per year for public annual passes and $70 per year for commercial annual passes (all vehicles displaying any commercial markings or advertising, including magnetic or rooftop signs, or vehicles owned by a commercial business).
- Homestead residents are allowed up to two $5 Pensacola Beach Annual Passes. To be a homestead resident, you must obtain the designation of your primary residence on Pensacola Beach from the Escambia County Property Appraiser's Office.
Note: A SunPass transponder must be purchased and activated before participating in the Pensacola Beach Annual Pass program. Annual pass holders must also maintain a balance on their SunPass account in order for the annual pass to be valid. The Pensacola Beach Annual Pass is only valid for the Bob Sikes Bridge toll plaza.
The Florida Turnpike Enterprise’s SunPass prepaid electronic tolling system on the Bob Sikes Bridge provides a smoother, more convenient tolling experience for drivers and eliminates the need to find a dollar as you go to the beach. For drivers who choose not to use SunPass, cash will continue to be accepted. Both SunPass and cash tolls on the Bob Sikes Bridge will remain $1 per vehicle.
