Escambia County will host two pre-registration events in May for the 2016 Play, Learn, Grow Summer Camp Program, a summer activity and recreational program for children ages 5-12. Students ages 13-15 are also invited to participate in the Teens in Action Leadership Program sponsored by Camp Fire Gulf Wind Inc., a new summer camp component focused on developing leadership and job skills.
Pre-registration dates are:
- Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to noon
- Thursday, May 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Pre-registration will take place at the Marie K. Young Wedgewood Community Center, located at 6405 Wagner Road in Pensacola. The registration fee is $35 per session, per family. Camp dates for all age groups are:
- Session one: May 31-July 1
- Session two: July 5-August 5
Proof of child’s age and Escambia County School District enrollment are required to participate. Acceptable verification documents include:
- Report card
- Progress report from current school year
Activities for the 5-12-year-old age group will focus on recreation, social development and education, while the Teens In Action Leadership Program will include service learning projects, job readiness skills and on-the-job training, communication training and public speaking.
