Third graders from Lincoln Park Elementary School joined District 3 Commissioner Lumon May Monday morning for a grand reopening event at Lincoln Park, enjoying food, games and new amenities at the park. The Lincoln Park Celebration took place Monday, April 18, dedicating recent additions at the park, including a full-court basketball court, new park sign and new wooden split-rail fencing.
Students played tug of war and kickball in the park’s open green space, also taking advantage of the new basketball court and the park’s playground equipment. Escambia Fire Rescue paid a visit to give a fire truck tour and fun lesson about firefighting equipment.
Other enhancements are also in the works for Lincoln Park, including outdoor fitness equipment, which will provide parents and guardians the opportunity to exercise while supervising their children playing nearby. With the latest upgrades, amenities at Lincoln Park now include a pavilion with picnic tables, walking track, playground, full-court basketball court and open green space for passive play and recreational activities.
