FEMA Denies Individual Assistance Request

Published Mar 25, 2016

Escambia County received notification today that FEMA has denied the state’s request for Individual Assistance, or disaster assistance for residents like low interest loans, grants, and temporary housing assistance. On March 16, Escambia received notification that the state’s request for an emergency declaration as a result of the February 2016 tornadoes and severe weather was also denied.  FEMA has determined that the damage did not meet the severity needed to receive federal assistance. The state has the ability appeal the denial within 30 days of March 25.
