Brentwood-Aviation Field Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 94 Tons of Debris

Published Feb 29, 2016

As part of its continuing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe, Escambia County recently announced that it collected and disposed of more than 94 tons (187,000 pounds) of debris during February's Neighborhood Cleanup event. The Brentwood/Aviation Field Neighborhood Cleanup saw great participation from the residents, placing yard trash, bulk waste, tires and household hazardous waste on the right of way for pickup. A detailed report is attached.

The Neighborhood Cleanup initiative involves an aggressive clean-up effort, targeting different neighborhoods throughout the County, with crew members and volunteers picking up a variety of debris and waste, including electronics, furniture, paint, old batteries and tires. The cleanup is free for participating local residents.

The county's neighborhood cleanup program is hosted by the Community Redevelopment Agency, Escambia County Safe Neighborhoods Program and Escambia County Waste Services. Local partners include City of Pensacola Sanitation Services, Escambia County Environmental Code Enforcement, the Escambia County Road Prison and Keep Pensacola Beautiful.
