County Officials Working to Address Rolling Hills Issue

Published Oct 30, 2015

Escambia County officials, along with Department of Environmental Protection staff, visited the Rolling Hills C&D Recycling Center yesterday. During the visit they noticed smoke coming from a small, chimney stack-sized area, believed to be a hot spot beneath the soil.

County officials have been in contact with DEP and are working to contact Rolling Hills' owners to determine what actions they are taking to address the issue. Additionally, Escambia County is preparing to stage equipment either on the property or nearby to address the potential for escalation of the issue.
