Neighborhood Cleanups Remove More Than 125 Tons of Debris in Escambia County

Published Sep 23, 2015

As part of its continuing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe, Escambia County recently announced that it has collected and disposed of more than 125 tons (250,320 pounds) of debris during this year's neighborhood cleanup program.

The initiative involves an aggressive clean-up effort, targeting different neighborhoods throughout the County, with crew members and volunteers working hard to pick up a variety of debris and waste, including electronics, furniture, paint, old batteries and tires. The cleanup is free for participating local residents, and approximately 1,100 homes in the communities of Navy Point, Edgewater, Montclair, Beach Haven/Patton Drive and Northcross have received service this year.

The County's neighborhood cleanup program is hosted by the Community Redevelopment Agency, Escambia County Safe Neighborhoods Program and Escambia County Waste Services. Local partners for this year's efforts include City of Pensacola Sanitation Services, Escambia County Environmental Code Enforcement and Keep Pensacola Beautiful.
