Youth Football, Cheerleading to Kick-Off This Saturday

Published Aug 27, 2015

Youth football and cheerleading will be kicking off in full swing this Saturday, August 29, as several County parks and youth athletic partners are set to host games in the local area.

The Ensley Chiefs will be hosting a jamboree at their home facility within the John R. Jones Athletic Complex, located at 555 East 9 Mile Road. Up to 35 youth football and cheerleading teams from programs located in Escambia County and the City of Pensacola will compete throughout the day in multiple age groups, with sport action starting at 9 a.m.

In addition to the jamboree, the Bellview Packers, along with the Perdido Bay Dolphins, will host games throughout the day. The Bellview home field is located at 2750 Longleaf Avenue, with the Perdido Bay Dolphins calling home at the Southwest Sports Complex, located at 2020 Bauer Road. Games at both of these facilities will kick off at 8 a.m.

The Escambia County Parks and Recreation Department would like to encourage football fans, residents, visitors to the area and general supporters of youth sports to get out to one of these respective parks and support our local youth as they compete on the field. In addition, the County wants to give special thanks to the parents, volunteers and supporters of youth sports within our community. Without the tireless support and long hours at the practice fields, in the concession stands and mostly after the hours during normal workdays, these types of special “opening days,” like what is on tap this coming Saturday, would not made possible.

In addition, we also challenge players, coaches, parents and supporters to stay positive and respective of your team and the opposition in a well-behaved manner. And last, but very important, have fun, and please remember that this is youth sports and it’s still just a game.
