New Library Director Settling In

Published Aug 11, 2015

The West Florida Public Library System's new Director, Todd J. Humble, is settling in after officially beginning work for Escambia County on July 31, 2015. The Friends of the West Florida Public Library held a Welcome Breakfast for Humble this past Friday at the Main Library (239 North Spring Street). The event was well attended and allowed some of the Library's biggest supporters to get a glimpse of the direction Humble plans to take the WFPL.

Most recently, Humble spent 13 years as the Library Supervisor at North Richland Hills Public Library near Fort Worth Texas. With more than 30 years experience, Humble has also been employed as the Library Director for Finney County Public Library in Garden City, Kansas, a High School and Middle School Library Media Specialist in Michigan, teaching Adult Education and providing computer consulting for small businesses. Humble double-majored at Eastern Michigan University, earning Bachelor's Degrees in Computer Science and History. He also holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University, where he graduated with Beta Phi Mu Honors.

The Library Director is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the WFPL, and is responsible for the administration, supervision, management, and coordination of all branch libraries and personnel. As Director of Library Services Humble will be charged with administering:
  • Branch Libraries
  • Youth Services
  • Circulation Services
  • Computer Services
  • Outreach Services
  • Reference Services
  • Support Services
