Some Escambia Drivers to Encounter Traffic Disruptions

Published Aug 7, 2015

Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions during the week of Monday, Aug. 10 on the following state roads in Escambia County as crews perform construction activities:

  • Demolition and reconstruction of the existing Scenic Highway overpass on Interstate 10 (I-10) continues. The work will require the following traffic impacts beginning Monday, Aug. 10:
    • I-10 eastbound traffic near U.S. 90 (Scenic Highway) will be shifted to the south near the overpass until the end of 2015. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph.
    • I-10 westbound near the Scenic Highway overpass and the Scenic Highway on-ramp to I-10 will be intermittently closed from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night for approximately three weeks.
  • Nine Mile Road westbound traffic west of I-10, near Heritage Oaks Drive, will encounter lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14 as crews perform construction activities.

Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone. All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather.
