Temporary Traffic Signal Operational at West Sunset Avenue and Gulf Beach Highway

Published Jul 31, 2015

A temporary traffic signal will become operational on Monday, Aug. 3, on County Road 292A (West Sunset Avenue) at Gulf Beach Highway. The signal will assist traffic through the construction zone.

Work started July 20 on the County Road 292A (West Sunset Avenue) over Bayou Grande bridge replacement project in Escambia County. The $5.4 million project will replace the existing bridge with a two-lane structure, add bike lanes and five-foot sidewalks.

West Sunset Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Motorists will utilize State Road (S.R.) 295 (Navy Boulevard) and S.R. 292 (Gulf Beach Highway). Chattman Street and Syrcle Drive will also be accessible to West Sunset Avenue during construction. The project will take a little over one year to complete.

All planned activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. For more information, follow the Florida Department of Transportation District Three on Twitter @myfdot_nwfl or like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MyFDOTNWFL.
