Escambia To Closely Monitor Rolling Hills

Published May 29, 2015

The Escambia County Water Quality & Land Management Division continues to closely monitor the air quality around the Rolling Hills Construction and Land Clearing Debris Landfill, located at 6990 Rolling Hills Road.

Despite a landfill fire at Rolling Hills this morning, Escambia County air monitoring has found no increases in the amount of H2S gas in the area around the landfill property.

Escambia County will continue to monitor the facility over the weekend to ensure the health and safety of those living nearby. At this point, there should not be a need to remain inside air conditioned buildings in the Wedgewood Community.

Escambia County’s monitoring will also include looking for evidence of any re-ignition of the fire that was first reported Friday morning.
