Youth Livestock Show Held at New 4-H Facility

Published Apr 20, 2015

The Gulf Coast Agriculture (GCA) and Natural Resources Youth Organization (NRYO) recently held its annual Spring Livestock Show, the first at the newly completed 4-H barns located at 5701 Highway 99 in Molino. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the show barn before the start of the swine show, with District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry and District 1 Wilson Robertson present to help celebrate the grand opening of the new 4-H Animal Science and Agricultural Center.

The event, which is supported by the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), featured animal exhibits of swine, cattle, poultry, sheep, goats and more. Each year, the event gives the youth of Escambia County and surrounding areas the opportunity to show off skills they have learned from their 4-H and FFA animal sciences projects.
