CORRECTION: Meeting to Focus on Flood Loss, Mitigation

Published Apr 6, 2015

Escambia County officials will host representatives from Texas A&M and the Nature Conservancy as they present "Preparing for Change: Building Resilient Coastal Communities." The meeting will be held Friday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Escambia County Central Office Complex, 3363 West Park Place.

Escambia County partnered with Texas A&M University and The Nature Conservancy to examine flood loss from coastal flooding and extreme rain events. This project analyzed flood loss scenarios, modeling for future events and strategies to avoid/mitigate flood damage. Texas A&M Professor Dr. Sam Brody has conducted similar analysis on the Atlantic Coast of Florida and Southwest Florida on the Gulf.  Dr. Brody will present his findings during the workshop.

Lunch will be provided. Attendees are asked to please bring a laptop or tablet. CFM and AICP credits are available.

The meeting agenda is attached. RSVP to Nicole Love at [email protected].
