A project to resurface 5.4 miles along 9th Avenue between Cervantes Street and Creighton Road will begin Sunday, March 15. This work is part of a $4 million contract that also includes traffic loop replacement, Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades, construction of a barrier wall at Carpenter’s Creek and new signs and pavement markings.
Drivers may encounter minor delays and intermittent lane closures during daytime hours as crews lower manholes and valve boxes in advance of the milling and paving operations. The contractor will begin milling and resurfacing at Cervantes Street and proceed north. Paving operations requiring lane restrictions will take place at night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Work is anticipated to be completed by winter of 2015.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to travel with care through the work zone, especially at night, and to watch for construction equipment and workers entering and exiting the roadway.
