Do It Yourself and Green Living
Plant a Seed and Watch It Grow
Learn to make your own newspaper seedling pots, plant your seed and watch it grow. This program is recommended for children.
Teen Paradox
Release your inner child and build forts that are bigger and better than ever! Bring old pillows and blankets for building materials. Recommended for teens ages 12 -17.
Egg Painting Craft
Local artist Edith Davis will teach children the art of wooden egg painting. Recommended for children ages 6 – 12.
DIY Tinker Lab
Entrance into our DIY Tinker Lab guarantees a mixed bag of fun as we learn to make our own homemade toys from recycled materials.
Calligraphy
Dorothy Wallace, member of the Genealogy Society, will give a basic introduction to calligraphy techniques.
Automobile Repair & Maintenance Resources
Love to tinker with cars? Find out about all the FREE resources the library has to offer to help get that ’67 Camaro in tip top shape, change the timing mechanism on a 2012 Buick Regal and more.
Really Knit Stuff
Knit and crochet at the library. All levels of experience from beginners to advanced are welcome. Registration is required.
Goats Galore
Goats, goats and more goats. Learn about different breeds of goats and their care. See first-hand how sweet and loving a goat can be.
Make n’ Take
March is a windy month so make your own wind sock to hang outside.
Container Gardening
Learn how to grow tomatoes in containers. Each participant will have their very own plant to take home. Space is limited, registration is required. Recommended for adults.
New Programs
Book Holding Trials
Take a picture while holding as many of your favorite books as you can, covers facing out. The winner is the teen who can hold the most books.
Crochet for Beginners
Learn to crochet at the library. In three one hour sessions you will learn how to accomplish basic crochet techniques. Space is limited, registration is required.
Friends of the SWBL Classic Movie Series
Enjoy a classic movie with popcorn and bottled water provided by the Friends of the Southwest Branch Library. The March movie is Some Like It Hot with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon; 1959. B/W, 120 minutes, Not Rated.
West Florida Genealogical Society Monthly Meeting
Genealogical Society business meeting and program, Migration Routes to the Old South presented by Mr. Bert Outlaw.

American Girl Book Club

Miss Martha’s Topsy-Turvy Tuesday
Make your own leprechaun trap. Elementary age children can create their own handmade, decorated trap complete with gold coins to lure a greedy leprechaun.

If you are looking for an opportunity to talk about books, join us at the Main Library every month as we explore a new title. The book for March is The Martian by Andy Weir.

GED Classes

Main Library
This class will introduce participants to the components of a computer along with basic keyboard and mouse skills.
Participants will learn to move photos from their phone, camera or tablet to the computer. Reminder: bring your device and cords.
This workshop will introduce participants to the Windows environment including navigating between different programs.
Participants will learn to compose, send and receive email messages and attachments. The class will also cover basic email security.
Participants will learn the basics of exploring the internet, navigation, browsers and internet safety.
Participants will learn the basics of creating greeting cards, flyers and more.
This workshop is designed for beginners who would like to learn how to create a Facebook profile, add and remove friends and upload photos.
Participants will learn to compose, send and receive email messages and attachments. The class will also cover basic email security.
Participants will learn techniques for moving documents, pictures and graphics from one software application to another.
Participants will learn how to find, save, copy, move and delete files and folders using File Explorer.
Century Branch
This class is designed for participants to create a document by learning the basics of Word 2010. Instruction will cover ribbons; spelling and grammar check; saving work and printing a document.
