Prescribed Burn in Jones Swamp Preserve

The Escambia County Natural Resources Conservation Division is preparing for a prescribed burn in the Jones Swamp Preserve, which will be conducted by a certified prescribed burn contractor with the Florida Forest Service on standby.

The prescribed burn is scheduled to occur between Wednesday, January 21, and Saturday, February 28, weather permitting. The prescribed burn will take place south of Highway 98, west of Fairfield Drive, north of Gulf Beach Highway and east of Blue Angel Parkway. The purpose of the burn is to restore the natural ecology of the Jones Swamp Preserve and reduce the danger of wildfires.
