Please note all WFPL locations will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in celebration of Thanksgiving.

While the libraries will be closed, patrons will be able to view the WFPL catalog, databases and other online services at MyWFPL.com.

 

November Events at West Florida Public Libraries

Art Exhibits

  • Through Saturday, November 29 – Molino Branch

Hanging exhibit: Patsy Pennington, member of the Quayside Art Gallery and former student at the Old Molino School

Display case: Dale Cooey will share his collection of carved wood Santas.

 

Googly-Goggly Photo Contest

  • Saturday, November 1, through Saturday, November 29 – Tryon Branch

This contest lets teens get a little silly and a lot creative by snapping pics of googly eyes on inanimate objects. Email your photos to [email protected] and the funniest submission will win a prize! Contestants can pick up their free set of googly eyes from the Tryon Branch Children’s Department.

 

Thanksgiving Coloring Contest

  • Monday, November 3, through Saturday, November 22 – Molino Branch

Children up to age 12 can pick up their coloring sheet starting Monday, November 3. Color the lively Thanksgiving turkey and return him to the Molino Branch Library by Saturday, November 22, for your chance to win a prize!  Winners will be announced on Monday, November 24.

Fall GED Classes

  • Weekly on Monday and Thursday, 6 p.m. – Molino Branch

Students need to take the TABE and fill out the online application to enroll: http://bit.ly/1q5WAK9. Cost for GED class is $30 per semester and semesters run the same as Escambia County Schools.

 

Family Game Night

  • Weekly on Monday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Main Library

 

Crafternoons

  • Monthly on the fourth Saturday, 1 p.m. – Main Library

Children 8 and older are welcome to make crafts at the Main Library each month.

 

Saturday Chess Club for Tweens

  • Weekly on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Tryon Branch

Learn to play chess for ages 8 to 14.

 

Movie Night for Grown-ups

  • Monday, November 24, 5 p.m. – Tryon Branch

This month's movie will be Maleficent (PG, 97 minutes).

 

Book Discussion

  • Monday, November 24, 6 p.m. – Molino Branch

For this month’s meeting, we will be discussing Don’t Stop the Carnival by Herman Wouk.

 

Books to Film Book Club

  • Tuesday, November 25, 6 p.m. – Tryon Branch

This month's book club for adults will be a discussion of A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby.

 

Teen Paradox – November Gathering

  • Wednesday, November 26, 6 p.m. – Tryon Branch

The Tryon Branch’s Teen Paradox offers opportunities for teens to participate in different activities at the library. This month’s gathering will be to discuss The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black.

 

Storytime for Children (Reoccurring)

Computer Classes for Adults

Internet Basics

  • Saturday, November 22, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Come and learn the basics of exploring the internet. Navigation and browser basics will be covered. Basic internet safety will also be discussed.

File Management Basics

  • Tuesday, November 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

In this workshop you will learn how to find, save, copy, move and delete files and folders.
