RESTORE Update: Community Input Sought By October 30

Published Oct 30, 2014

The RESTORE Act Advisory Committee, formed by Escambia County to develop recommendations for short-and long-term recovery strategies post-BP oil disaster, has worked diligently with County staff and the consultant firm Dewberry to include public input into the development of a draft Needs Assessment document (attached), a process that has been ongoing for several months. Now that the Needs Assessment is in the final stages, community members have an opportunity, once again, to take a few minutes to review the draft document and provide feedback.

The team is looking for input as to the accuracy of the general overall needs of Escambia County and for anything you feel should be considered for addition. You will see that the needs have been divided into four broad categories, including:  environment, economy, infrastructure and social issues. The Needs Assessment document will be used, in part, as a way to evaluate the overall impact of future proposed projects in each area of concern. Since one, or all, of these areas impact the lives of Escambia County residents, please take this opportunity to weigh in on these important quality of life issues. If you are unfamiliar with the RESTORE Act and the steps the RESTORE Act Advisory Committee has taken to implement it, please visit http://www.myescambia.com/restore/links.

The comment period opens today, October 22, through Thursday, October 30.   Submit your comments to [email protected]. The comments received will be presented to the RESTORE Act Advisory Committee at its meeting on Monday, November 3. The Committee will accept additional comments at that meeting as well.  Thank you for your active participation in this process.
