West Florida Public Library System to Celebrate Library Card Sign Up Month on Location

The West Florida Public Library System (WFPL) is joining libraries across the nation in celebrating September as Library Card Sign Up Month.

Residents of Escambia County or active duty service members living in Escambia County can obtain a library card for the WFPL System free of charge at any of its locations, or on-site at the following places throughout our community:

Friday, September 12, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Community Maritime Park’s showing of “Frozen”

301 W. Main Street, Pensacola

 

Saturday, September 13, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Bellview Athletic Park

2750 Longleaf Drive, Pensacola

 

Saturday, September 13, 1 to 4 p.m.

John R. Jones - Ensley Athletic Park

555 E. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola

 

Tuesday, September 16, 4 to 6 p.m.

Walmart Neighborhood Market

6670 Mobile Highway, Pensacola

 

Friday, September 19, 6 to 8 p.m.

Downtown Pensacola Gallery Night

Near Palafox Street and Main Street, Pensacola

 

Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Food Giant Grocery

9511 N. Century Boulevard, Century

 

Giveaways such as bookmarks and Friends of the Library-donated copies of Tim O’Brien’s book, The Things They Carried, will be distributed in advance of The Big Read.

Libraries are a valuable resource in our community offering services as varied as story time hours to expose young minds to the joy of reading and hands-on instruction in computer usage, as well as free access to books, magazines, CDs and DVDs.

  • Use a computer: $12
  • Ask a librarian: $7
  • Reserve a meeting room: $25
  • Attend a program: $15
  • Read a library book: $15
  • Borrow a movie: $4
  • Borrow a CD: $10
  • Access online resources: $10
